I am a Reflective Practice Law Supervisor as well as being a registered Mental Health Nurse and Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) Practitioner.
I have worked in the field of adult mental health in the NHS for over 25 years and have a wealth of experience supporting and treating adults with various mental health difficulties.
I have trained as a Reflective Practice Law Supervisor at the FLiP faculty, registering with the AFLS and have completed training in Facilitating Reflective Practice Groups at the Tavistock Centre.
Supervision has always been an essential part of my work; I provide supervision to colleagues in the NHS, as well as to members of the legal profession, and I personally receive regular supervision. This time is incredibly useful and allows me the opportunity to pause and reflect on the work I do and the relationships within it. It helps me to focus on my work and think about the impact it has on my wellbeing, both during and outside of my working hours.
From my own experience of differing qualities and styles of supervision, I have a strong understanding of good quality supervision and how to deliver this.
I am a Mentalization Based Treatment Practitioner on the register of kite marked therapists with the British Psychoanalytic Council British Psychoanalytic Council (bpc.org.uk).
At the start of my journey in family law supervision, I spoke to people working in the world of law and found it hard to comprehend that not all lawyers have their work protected in the way that I do working within mental health.

You take care of people and advise them during some of their most difficult and life changing times. I believe that having a reflective space to truly think about your work is vital and supports you to support your client in the best possible way.
I work in a relational way thinking about how you experience the work that you do. Sometimes we do not notice the emotional impact of our work, in supervision we can begin to think about this and where the areas of work can blend into home life and vice versa. Can we be passionate about our work and also take space/time out for ourselves, away from the pull to be there wholly for our clients?

Thinking about and understanding the emotional impact of managing relationships has always been central to my work. I look forward to talking with you about supervision and how you can integrate this valuable space into your working life.
